We can all, help ourselves to achieve and maintain a healthy body and mind state of being.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi, also referred to as Tai Chi Chuan and Taijiquan, has its roots in the martial arts; yet for centuries millions of Chinese have practiced Tai Chi's flowing, meditative movements to cultivate and maintain health and well being. Considered one of the treasures of Chinese medicine, Tai Chi is based on the same core principles that underlie acupuncture and Chinese herbal therapies. Tai Chi employs physical movement, breathing techniques, visualization and focused internal awareness to strengthen the body, relax the mind, and "balance the flow of Qi".

Qi

The Chinese character for Qi itself depicts steam rising from cooking rice suggesting change, movement and transformation; a subtle substance, deriving from a coarse substance. Qi, while a vital force, is said to be both material and immaterial. It is potential and movement, and by its nature is in a state of constant flux and movement.

Qi Transform materials, such as food, into fuel for the body.
Qi
Transport substances, like blood throughout the body.
Qi Hold substances in place, such as blood in vessels and viscera in the abdomen.
Qi
Protect against pathogens and trauma and warms living tissues

Qi Gong
Qigong, can be translated as the cultivation and regulation of Qi or internal energy, it is a form of mind-body exercise originating in China more than 5000 years ago.  Qigong practices have been developed to help maintain good health, to prevent and cure diseases, to provide martial arts prowess, to restore vitality, and to enhance the spirit of the patient or practitioner.  Most Qigong systems integrate a number of basic principles related to body movements or postures, breathing, focused attention, visualization, and intention. In addition to self-healing and development, certain branches of Qigong also include training and techniques that enable skilled practitioners to transmit Qi to their students or patients in order to restore or balance the recipient's health.  Expression of this energy is also a central component of internal Chinese martial arts such as Tai Chi

Meditation is a discipline in which one attempts to get beyond the conditioned, "thinking" mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. It often involves turning attention to a single point of reference

Yoga is a group of ancient spiritual practices designed for the purpose of cultivating a steady mind.  The Sanskrit term yoga has many meanings. It is derived from the Sanskrit root yuj, "to control", "to yoke", or "to unite". Yoga has been defined as " a discipline of asceticism and meditation which is thought to lead to spiritual experiences and a profound understanding or insight into the nature of existence." Outside India, yoga is mostly associated with the practice of asanas (postures).
